]]>The program's standout feature is the attractive discounts it offers. Orders placed in January enjoy a generous 10% discount, while those placed before the end of March receive a still-impressive 5% discount. These discounts add up and provide financial incentives to participate in the Early Buy-Early Ship program. These can be combined with quantity discounts that range from 5%-15%.
Receiving products as available early early in the year can be a game-changer. While selling Santa in July might seem unconventional, having inventory ready well in advance eliminates the stress of last-minute cancellations or shipping delays. Early delivery sets the stage for a seamless and profitable holiday season as well as an organized, planned-out approach to inventory during the year.
The program introduces a welcome delay, but this time in payments. Offering NET30 or December 1st dating to customers with approved credit provides flexibility during slow seasons and eases budget constraints during the bustling holiday period.
To take advantage of the benefits, it's important to understand the program's terms and conditions
For the 10% discount, orders must be placed by January 31, and for a 5% discount, the deadline is March 31. Timely ordering is key to unlocking these savings.
All orders placed for Early-Buy will ship as the product is available in a "first in, first out" shipping schedule. What this means is that orders received on January 1st will normally begin to be processed and shipped in mid-February, with the initial shipments completed by approximately the end of April. Managing expectations around shipping timelines is helpful for inventory planning.
Some qualifying orders will a get quantity discount in addition to the Early Buy discount. Depending on the initial order size, tiered discounts, range from 5% to 15%. The discount tier is determined solely based on the initial order, emphasizing the importance of strategic planning.
Early Buy and quantity discounts are contingent on timely payment. All invoices paid by credit card will incur a 3.5% fee, emphasizing the benefits of sending a check or ACH before the due date.
Placing orders in January ensures a 10% discount, maximizing savings. However, if this isn't feasible, securing a 5% discount by placing orders before the end of March is a wise alternative.
For businesses with multiple locations, consolidating orders and shipping to a central location maximizes discounts based on the initial order's date and size.
Timely payment is the linchpin for accessing Early Buy-Early Ship discounts. Prepayment or sending checks well before the due date is recommended to ensure uninterrupted savings.
Adhering to the ship as ready and "first in, first out" shipping basis is critical. Businesses with specific delivery constraints should include a cancel date on orders after June 1st to align with their operational plans.
For early-in-the-year holidays, placing separate orders with immediate ship dates can circumvent delays, ensuring timely availability for events like Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, or Easter.
Careful consideration is advised when making adjustments to initial orders. Adding new items to a separate order can ensure continued qualification for discounts offered at the time of receipt.
Old World Christmas' Early Buy program is a golden opportunity for retailers to enhance their ornament inventory and save some money. By understanding and adhering to the program's benefits, businesses can navigate the holiday season with ease, ensuring a prosperous and panic-free 2024. For any inquiries or further clarification, reach out to Old World Christmas we look forward to a fruitful partnership in the coming year.

]]>Discounts
The signature attraction of Early Buy-Early Ship are the discounts. Orders placed in January receive a 10% discount, and orders placed before the end of March receive a 5% discount.
Early Delivery
Receiving your product early in the year gives you more time to sell it. Sure, maybe July isn’t ideal to sell Santa, but avoiding the panic of last-minute cancellations or shipping delays sets you up for a smooth holiday season.
Delayed Payment Terms
There is one delay we all like: delayed payment. We offer either a NET30 or December 1st dating to our customers with approved credit. Delaying payments can help during the slow season and make it easier on the budget during the holiday season.
To take full advantage of the discount, orders must be placed on time and be over $1000. To receive 10% off orders must be placed by January 31. For a 5% discount, orders must be placed by March 31.
Shipping
All Early Buy-Early Ship orders qualifying for dating and discounts must be packed, shipped, and invoiced to only one location and as soon as the product is available. Unfortunately, we cannot allow buyers to specify a ship date on these orders. We adhere to a "first in, first out" shipping schedule which in general, we start shipping orders received on January 1st by the middle of February, and the initial shipments of the Early Buy program are usually completed by the end of April.
After the initial shipment, any back orders will be shipped as soon as the product becomes available. Depending on the size of the order, it can take several shipments to complete the order. In general, all customers have 80-90% of their order by early-mid summer. Occasionally, some items may not arrive until September or October. If late shipments won’t work for your business plan, we allow retailers to add a cancel date on any order, as long as it is after June 1st.
Quantity Discounts
Some qualifying orders will get a quantity discount in addition to the Early Buy-Early Ship discount. The initial order quantity determines the discount level for the year, as quantity discounts are predicated on a non-cumulative order basis. We don’t allow retailers to combine order totals later in the year in order to get to a higher discount tier. The tier for the year is determined solely on the initial order. Please see the complete schedule below:
Under $2,500: Net 30 days
Over $2,500: December 1 dating on all orders OR Net30 days and applicable discount on the initial order only
Over $5,000: December 1dating
Over $10,000: December 1dating and 5% quantity discount on initial order only
Over $17,500: December 1 dating and 7.5% quantity discount on initial order only
Over $30,000: December 1 dating and 10% quantity discount on initial order only
Over $45,000: December 1 dating and 10% quantity discount on all orders
Over $80,000: December 1 dating and 12.5% quantity discount on all orders
Over $150,000: December 1 dating and 15% quantity discount on all orders
Payment
Early Buy and quantity discounts are only allowed on invoices that are paid on or before the due date. All invoices paid by credit card will be assessed a 3% fee. To prevent this fee we recommend sending a check several days before the invoice is due or an ACH transfer.
Timing
Placing an order in January guarantees you a 10% discount. If that isn’t possible, placing an order before the end of March gives you a 5% discount. We recommend placing an order that covers your anticipated demand for the year. This will help maximize your savings by qualifying you for our largest discount possible. We don’t offer any other discounts later in the year.
Multiple Locations
If your business has several locations, we suggest you place one large order and ship it to one central location. By doing this, you maximize the discounts based on the date and size of your initial order.
Payment
All the Early Buy-Early Ship discounts are predicated on timely payment (on or before the due date). We recommend prepayment or sending your check several days before your due date to ensure all anticipated discounts.
Delivery/Timing
Every order is sent on a "first in, first out" basis. If you have a year-round or summer-seasonal store, we recommend placing your order as soon as possible, thus receiving your shipments sooner rather than later. If your store closes early in the year or simply can't take delivery after a specific date, please include a cancel date on the order (only after June 1st).
Time Sensitive Orders
If you need an early order to accommodate early-in-the-year holidays such as for Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day or Easter, we suggest placing a separate order with an immediate ship date, in order to avoid delays. We recommend placing separate orders when purchasing Web Specials as many items will sell out prior to Early Buy orders being shipped.
Adding to Existing Orders
Any additions and changes can be made to orders only during the same discount period (see schedule below). Please note that if changes impact the size of the initial order it could affect the discount tier you qualify for. In most cases we recommend not making adjustments to initial orders and adding new items to a new order which will still qualify for any discounts offered at the time of receipt. We always do our best to ship multiple orders together to reduce shipping charges.
Discount Periods
January 1st through January 31st - 10% Early Buy
February 1st through March 31st - 5% Early Buy
April 1st through December 31st - No Discounts
Please contact us with any questions you may have. We look forward to a prosperous 2023 with you!

]]>Little things are just plain cute, and that applies to all of our mini ornaments. Mini ornaments are also more affordable as individual items, but Old World Christmas mini items don’t compromise on design just because they’re small. Each mini ornament is still mouth blown, hand painted, and hand glittered. Because of the lower price point, customers are more prone to buy multiples or sets of mini ornaments to split up, give as a gift, or display on their tree. Who could resist a set of mini parakeets? Mini ornament sets feel like a big bang for the buck, and yet it remains a reasonably priced purchase.
In addition to being cute, mini ornaments provide variety to your customer, as well as your store. Customers look for small ornaments because everyone does not have a full-size tree. Tabletop or apartment-sized Christmas trees need smaller-scale ornaments. Big box stores might sell a package of small colored glass balls, but for the customer looking for a more unique option, Old World Christmas mini ornaments are a thoughtful and personal option. Carrying both full-sized and mini ornaments gives choice and variety to your customer. There are times when a mini ornament is just the right answer. Mini ornaments add a small touch or suggestion to Christmas decor. They add visual variety to your shop's display. Every big ornament compliments its mini ornament counterpart.
All of our ornaments make superb gifts thanks to the incredible designs, colors, sprinkle of glitter, and secure packaging. Mini ornaments, because of their affordability, highlight their gift-giving appeal. A number of our mini ornaments come in sets, like the beachcomber set, dessert set, gardener, and forest dweller set. Each of these ornament set ships in a keepsake box to keep them safe while in transit and in storage when they’re not in use. For customers who love Halloween, we also carry a Halloween-themed mini ornament set. Another easily giftable item featuring mini ornaments is our brand-new Advent calendar. Glass ornaments aren’t always kid-friendly, but inside each door of our 24-day Advent countdown calendar there is a mini ornament made out of kid-friendly material, perfect for a mini tree or the big one.
Mini ornaments are the small heroes, not always front and center, but deserving of their place in the spotlight. If you haven’t stocked our mini ornaments before, this fall and winter is a great season to experiment with assortment and design. If mini ornaments are a regular part of your shop’s merchandise, then you’re in on the secret of Old World Christmas mini ornaments!

We’re grateful for you, our amazing retailers who keep up with all that we offer each year!
We love building personal, face-to-face relationships with our retailers. Our customer service is top-notch all the time, but takes on an additional element when we know you. Our foundation was built on family and that tradition continues. We value our retailers, not just as numbers who sell our ornaments, but as a vital part of our team. We see you as partners and strive to keep open the doors of communication in order to build strong, lasting relationships with you. We want you to love our products so the joy and magic of Christmas is easy to spread to your customers.
Thank you so much for being an important, trusted retailer with Old World Christmas. Your partnership encourages us and we’re thankful for you. The relentless work you do at this time of year is amazing and we know it doesn’t stop when Christmas is over. Continue to bring magic to the customers and we hope to see you at the gift shows!
]]>A company practice we have instituted from the beginning is taking customer suggestions for ornaments, and this holiday season, we’d love your help. Because gift shops, Christmas stores, and specialty boutiques are the eyes and ears for the customer, you know better than anyone what customers are looking for. When they leave your shop disappointed because they didn’t find that perfect gift, you miss out on the sale and customer satisfaction, and we miss out on providing products your customer is hoping for. As shopping becomes busy this holiday season, we would love you to keep track of ornaments your customers are looking for, but aren’t ornaments we make. Whether it’s an easy google doc or paper and pen by the cash wrap, we want to know what your customers are looking for. Collect all the suggestions and let us know each one via our website.
We consider every ornament suggestion and frequently customer-suggested ideas become actual ornaments in our collection. In fact, we have been running a promotion on the direct-to-customer side of our business soliciting customer suggestions for ornaments. We will select five finalists and pick one of the suggestions as the grand-prize winner. That suggestion will immediately go into the design and planning stage of our ornament process, and will be put into production and revealed during the 2023 season. We take customer suggestions seriously, and this year we’ve made a special effort to gather many suggestions.
Because Old World Christmas doesn’t sell to big box stores, we are able to keep our relationships with our retailers relational. To us, each wholesaler represents an important partnership. We recognize the value you add to in your own communities, and we want to provide heirloom-quality ornaments for your customers to cherish for decades to come. We work diligently to earn your trust through excellent customer service and helpful incentive programs. Adding a new wholesale relationship to our mix feels as important as adding a new ornament to the collection.
Because of these important partnerships, we hope you will keep track of customer suggestions for ornaments and share them with us this holiday season. We want to be a helpful resource to provide your customers with exactly what they are looking for. We want your shop to be successful and to earn the reputation of being your customer’s favorite store that always has what they’re looking for. Together we will provide beautiful, relevant and sought-after ornaments for each customer. Thank you for providing ornament suggestions to us this year.
]]>There’s a reason we run our “Buy Early” deal during the first few months of each year. We realize the last thing you want to do early in the year is to order Christmas ornaments. You’ve endured two months (or longer!) of non-stop holiday hustle and you deserve a break. Take one! But, carve out an afternoon in late January to spend time on our wholesale website to restock the ornaments that sold out, add a few more to your assortment, and evaluate what didn’t sell in your store. We offer a discount on your orders during this promotion, but the discount becomes less the longer you wait. Order early for the best deal. We bug our retailers all year long to order early because the holiday season puts strain on us as well, and our warehouse gets bogged down with orders sometimes causing delays during the holiday season. In order to avoid orders getting behind we recommend ordering your stock to sell at Christmas early, ideally from January-September. If you do have to reorder in the middle of the holiday season, we will do our very best to get orders out in a prompt manner.
There’s no way to avoid the inevitable “after Christmas mess” we imagine every retail shop looks like after the busiest retail season of the year has blown through. With increased foot traffic, many requests, and a lot of rush there’s no way things aren’t left things scattered, disorganized, and all over the place. However, with organized systems in place months before the holiday season begins, each shop has a better chance of staying under control during the Christmas shopping season. If organization isn’t your strong suit, enroll the help of a friend who is good at establishing systems and implement them for inventory tracking, storage, and mid-season reorders. If your friends are not organizational gurus hire a professional, pay for a class, or ask other retailers you respect what systems they use to stay organized during the Christmas season. Figuring out what works for your specific store and following the recommendations will pay off in the long run, and especially around Christmas.
The holiday season is upon us, and no one can do it alone or without breaks and rest. Just as athletes train for their competition, you must train for the holiday season by taking care of yourself. We believe our retailers can thrive during the season and don’t have to merely survive and then crash (and get sick) once it’s over. Self care becomes invaluable: drink a lot of water, take essential vitamins, limit alcohol intake, and prioritize sleep. Taking deep breaths and being mindful throughout the day can help sustain your mental health from the beginning of the season to the end. Be sure to schedule shifts away from your store in order to give yourself a mental break from the business and stress.
We truly do hope this is the best time of the year for all of our retailers. We love participating in the Christmas magic by partnering with you through the season. The season is upon us, and we wish you all the best and many sales over the next few weeks. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas!
]]>If you haven’t already taken some time to look through our newest 2022 Mid Year ornament collection, you should. We love the newest licensed ornaments, and we think your customers will smile when they see the Doritos, Miller Lite, and Coors Light ornaments, and they’ll relive childhood with the Tetris™, Tinkertoy, and GI Joe lunch box ornaments. For word-game lovers, we put a Christmas twist on the popular yellow and green boxes. We are excited to carry all the favorite Rudolph® characters in ornament form this year, as well as a couple more popular college mascots. We also developed a couple brand-new products for 2022 we think will sell well. The first is the Tasty Christmas puzzle, perfect for Old World Christmas ornament fans. The puzzle is a 500 piece puzzle featuring popular food and drink ornaments. We imagine families gathered around the table popping in pieces after a tasty meal together. The other new product we’re excited about is our advent calendar. Countdown to Christmas has never been so fun. New this year, the calendar features 24 individual doors each with a fan-favorite ornament made out of kid-friendly material.
We encourage all of our vendors to plan well during the summer months to prevent a fall and winter panic. By having enough inventory for each of the seasons, your customers will continue to rely on your shop as the go-to answer for gifts and decor. Having the inventory early will be vital with the intense pace from Halloween to New Years. We don’t just have the Mid Year collection, but we have hundreds of new ornaments as well. We love the variety and we’re confident your customers will too. It takes time to plan out the right assortment and numbers, but waiting until the last minute to place an order will put you behind. Though our warehouse staff is incredible, they have a lot to keep up with, and once the fall hits, they’re slammed. Orders might take longer than anticipated come fall and winter. Also, placing an order later in the year increases the chance that the mix of available product might not be exactly what you’re looking for. We say plan well and shop early for the best selection and simplest shipping options.
As always, our staff is ready to assist. Our online ordering system is simple and straightforward, but if you run into issues, we would love to help sort it out. We want your experience with Old World Christmas to be positive. From our selection and variety of beautiful ornaments, to how they’re packed, shipped and received, to how they are admired and purchased by your customers, we are confident in building a great relationship. Shop early, shop often and make this a great holiday season.
]]>We think it could go either way. Depending on the year, Christmas and Thanksgiving can be anywhere from 29 to 32 days apart, and are those short, dark days long enough to enjoy the full effect of all that Christmas decorations have to offer? No way! How is one to ever make it through the long list of Hallmark movies, drink enough peppermint hot chocolate, decorate enough gingerbread houses, or attend enough parties in 30 days? It’s impossible, which is why decorating before Thanksgiving is imperative. Even more so if you own a shop and sell Christmas ornaments and decor. As a retailer, you need to build momentum for Christmas sales, weeks, maybe months, before Christmas. Shoppers, especially those looking for Christmas decor, will most likely not be purchasing decorations three days before Christmas, but looking for Christmas decor as soon as Halloween. Depending on the customer, their Christmas decor might go up in early November, to be enjoyed for a long holiday season, so your shop needs to provide it right after Halloween.
But, what about the customers who firmly believe that each holiday should be celebrated one at a time? Decorating too early, and creating early Christmas momentum can be a turn off for the holiday purist. This traditional customer prefers to see fall and Halloween decor and decorations from September until November 1st, Thanksgiving offerings from the beginning of November until the turkey leftovers are getting packed into Tupperware containers after Thanksgiving dinner. Christmas gets a green light and full steam ahead the morning after Thanksgiving. But, unlike Disneyland who can make the transformation from Halloween to Christmas overnight, the dread of hauling down box after box of Christmas decor looms heavy the morning after Thanksgiving. Would it be easier for the holiday purist to have a more lengthy timeline if they just decorated for Christmas before Thanksgiving? Probably, but then they wouldn’t be much of a purist, would they?
How does a retailer balance both of the sides of this epic debate? With care, a well-organized shop and a keen eye for each holiday. Don’t redecorate your entire shop for each holiday, but greet the customer right in the front of your shop with whichever holiday is current. That way you only have to decorate a smaller section of your shop instead of the entire store. It prevents you from having to ride the crazy train through the holidays while keeping your shop up-to-date and eye-catching for your customer. For Halloween, we recommend our Halloween ornament collection as well as the spooky collection of the Ginger Boo! Halloween village. They are lit from the inside with a tea light and they make a big impact with just a few cottages and elements. Thanksgiving is next, and baskets and/or a cornucopia over flowing with Thanksgiving ornaments gives customers many choices for Thanksgiving tabletop decor. It might be a late night switching out Thanksgiving for Christmas, but greeting customers with full-blown Christmas the day after Thanksgiving is imperative to get a jump on Christmas sales.
However, though you might not redecorate your entire store for each holiday, for the non-purist, your shop can have each holiday offered at all times, just not displayed at the front of the store. Your customer is looking for new Christmas wreaths three days after Halloween? No problem. You have them, but they’re not front and center so they don’t offend the holiday purist. We can all get along, and your shop can accommodate all customers and all holidays.

Merchandising Well Through the Holidays
Once the holiday rush begins, you might have time for small display changes and product redistribution, but you probably won’t have time for a complete overhaul of the flow and display structure of your shop. You need to have an easy way to get from displaying fall and Halloween merchandise, transition into Thanksgiving and then Christmas without too much fuss and redecoration. Your main display items—tables, bins, trees, shelves, furniture pieces—for the most part should stay the same, or adjust slightly, and the merchandise should be able to easily rearrange. When a customer comes in the fall, our new charcuterie, cornucopia or pumpkin-spice ornaments should greet them front and center, with other seasons waiting in the wings. As Halloween gets closer, those items should take the front and center space, moving fall merchandise nearby to the side. Another fun fall and Halloween display people love is the Ginger Boo! collection. It’s eye catching and if displayed well, draws customers in. During the season, merchandise transitions to the next season, but there are certain well-themed vignettes that are always relevant and look great displayed year round.
Creative Themed Vignettes
Vignettes are small areas with a specific theme. They are an organized way of displaying merchandise, and makes sense to a customer. Pets, babies, travel, and back-to-school are all logical vignettes, and customers quickly can find or move past well-defined vignettes depending on their interests and hobbies.
One of those vignettes could feature our COVID-19 ornaments, and other COVID-related merchandise. Displayed well, these ornaments, like Vaccinated Santa, Santa with Face Mask, Santa Revealed, and hand sanitizer are very relatable and timely for this season. Displayed with the Virtual Friends ornament and any other COVID-19 merchandise, it makes a logical place for customers to find ornaments that relate directly to every-day life. Even Bernie’s Mittens would fit well in this vignette (he’s masked!).
Some customers might engage in the COVID-19 offerings, and others might want to escape it all together. With all the space travel this summer, an outer space vignette might feel timely to your customers. We added a Christmas UFO to our collection, but also have spaceships, airplanes, the moon and sun ornaments. If closer-to-home travel is what your customers love, a travel vignette, complete with vintage suitcases, posters, and accessories could feature the Old World Christmas’ travel ornaments: the cruise ship, beach house, or landmark ornaments.
Setting up vignettes within your shop, and then rotating the eye-catching front display and possible window displays will create less work for you, and will give the impression that your shop always has new merchandise and exciting displays. Bare branches with fall-themed ornaments in your front display, can easily be replaced with a table-top Christmas tree come Christmas.
Think Ahead Before the Holiday Rush
Some pre-planning will prevent holiday panic once the holidays hit. By organizing your shop with vignettes and themed areas, you will reduce the amount of total overhauls at each holiday. A merchandise shuffle rather than a complete redesign will be a lot less stressful, and will keep your shop more organized. When the Christmas rush begins, it might be hard to keep up, so some forethought into the structure of displays will pay off in the end. Take an inventory now of all your display options, while the pool is still open and the temperatures are still high, because once the holidays are upon us it’s full steam ahead!
]]>The jolly man takes some time off during the summer, so invite him to your shop for a summer photo op for your customer. Everyone gets their photos taken with Santa in the winter. They stand outside freezing in long lines to get a few words with Santa, so why not hire a laid-back, summer Santa—complete with a Hawaiian shirt and board shorts—and have him ask each kid for their half-year self evaluation. With half of a year to go kids could shape up and still end up on the nice list. Each customer could leave your shop with a cute summer-themed photo and a coupon for 10% off a summer-themed ornament. Before Santa gets there, set the scene with surf boards, kiddie pools, and display tables full of summer-themed ornaments. Some of our favorites are our outside ornaments, travel ornaments and beach and seashore ornaments. Ornaments in buckets, strung from the ceiling, and in summer fruit baskets give a less Christmasy feel to your Christmas in July event.
To incentivize some Christmas purchasing in July, why not motivate your customers with ice cream? Or popsicles? Salt-water taffy or a snow cone? These summer treats might create a draw, and if they come for the treats, they’ll probably stay for the ornaments. Either purchase your own sweet treats wholesale or hire a local ice cream or popsicle company to partner with your Christmas in July event and sell ice cream in your shop. We think our summer sweet treat ornaments stand alone! We love the ice cream sandwich, the double dip, and the snow cone.
Live music is always a draw, so why not draw customers with a summer-themed cover band? There are an endless supply of summer songs, and inside or outside music can get the shoppers shopping. While mom is shopping, entertain the kids with a simple kiddie sidewalk carnival with sidewalk chalk, a photo op with a summer-themed Christmas character, bubbles and a simple game of ring toss or fishing in a kiddie pool. The kids could win small trinkets and coupons for their parents for 10% off Old World Christmas ornaments sold in your shop.
Having a Christmas in July mindset starts with the right decorations. We think that the plastic, colored Christmas trees—Blue! Pink! Gold! White!—give a nod to Christmas without being too traditional. It’s easier to hang summer ornaments on a tree that looks festive for the summer. Think of containers your customer would naturally associate with summer—berry-picking baskets or crates, pickle jars, fish bowls, sand buckets and galvanized containers—all make cute carryalls for cute summer ornaments.
Don’t let July pass you by without some type of Christmas-in-July event. Summer doesn’t have to be Christmas’ off season, with some creativity, Summer can be the main event, especially if Old World Christmas ornaments are part of it. Merry Christmas in July!
We are really excited about our box redesign. It was time to showcase the magic of each cottage with a clear-front box. Not only do the boxes protect the cottages from damage, they make each item easy to stock and keep track of. When the boxes are displayed in your shop the wide, clear box front shows clearly which cottage is in what box. The boxes share the Ginger Cottages story and lets the customer know there is more than meets the eye with hidden objects in every cottage. With these boxes, Ginger Cottages are easy to wrap and give as gifts. We love the finished result and believe that both you and your customer will benefit from our box redesign. In fact, we think your Ginger Cottages inventory will sell itself with this box!
We are so excited about our 8 new designs for 2021, and we think you will love them too. The Alpine Time Clock Shoppe lets the elves know when it’s quitting time! You’ll find the reindeer busy training for their big day at the Reindeer Flight School. When Santa needs a quick recharge, we know he nips into the Claus Cafe Coffee Shop for a quick cup of cocoa. We get all the German-style Christmas feels from the cheery All Things German cottage. In the off season, you’ll find Santa in New England at his favorite Crab Shack. Frosty’s Treat Shop is the favorite haunt of Buddy after a long day at the office. The super-popular Santa train has a new addition in 2021: The North Pole Express Sleigh Car, brimming with toys and goodies. You can almost hear the oompah beat from the square at Christmas with the Oompah Gazebo. Carry the recent adds in your shop this year!
The Ginger Cottages magic begins with you. Displaying it well will enhance the cottages and appeal to the customers. There are a number of display pieces that can highlight the best parts of Ginger Cottages. Lighting the cottages from within will make your display eye-catching. Each cottage and base is equipped with a place for a battery-powered tea light. They glow from within casting a warm and special light. We have a number of single and double display stands with a space for the tea light. The Schwibbogen display is a fan favorite. This gorgeous, tree-dotted stand highlights about five cottages with maybe a tree or two to really set it off. This display is really impressive and gives the full picture of the Ginger Cottages magic. There are also a few backdrop type pieces that add some dimension to your display.
If you haven’t yet discovered the magic of Ginger Cottages be sure to explore the entire collection today. They go beyond Christmas with the Halloween Ginger Boo! collection, the Coca Cola® collection, and the K-9 Cottages. There is a cottage for everyone and they continue to delight and surprise with hidden secrets and treasures. Make Ginger Cottages a central part of your shop today.
]]>Many shops have lots of merchandise, which is great, your shop is providing options and “the perfect gift” for many customers. However, if the merchandise isn’t organized well, or at all, customers might subconsciously feel confused or unable to focus in on certain items. A well-organized store creates opportunities for customers to find what they’re looking for. Grouping items creates sense out of chaos. It just takes a little creativity. Maybe there’s a baby section in your store, you don’t need a Christmas tree to display our baby ornament collection, but what about a couple bins, baskets or vintage suitcases featuring our beautiful glass-blown ornaments. Grouping the ornaments by gender or item would make your customer’s search more straightforward. Even stringing one of each ornament on a string or clothes line with clothes pins would give a vintage baby feel as well as displaying ornaments without needing a Christmas tree. Keeping all the baby and kids items in one section, rather than placed throughout the store.
Your shop displays determine the flow of traffic through your store as well as where the customer’s eye is trained. Boring displays create a boring store. Different levels or heights of merchandise makes the interior of a store much more interesting and inviting. But, there’s a fine line. Customers want to feel like they’re discovering pieces, not that they’re sorting through junk. How your items are merchandised and displayed make all the difference. Have just enough to peak their interest, but not too much that overwhelms the customer. Different heights allows you to both group and display with interest. Merchandise shouldn’t only be at eye level. Front tables should have multiple levels below and above with the most popular, interesting and seasonally appropriate items. If it’s summer, there won’t be a Christmas tree in sight, but if you’re selling a variety of summer necessities, have a wide-rim fish bowl with tropical fish ornaments “swimming” in the bowl as well as dangling from the ceiling over the summer display. Displays like these are going to be quick, eye-catching items that the customer puts into their basket and then continues deeper into your store, discovering more wonderfully curated items along the way.
A bunch of uniform containers laid out on a single table is one way to display items, but it won’t strike the customer as interesting or enticing. Even the containers you use to display and house items can be intriguing to customers. We have a retailer who sells our ever-popular pickle ornament out of a classic oversized pickle jar. It’s a hit with their customers. Large glass jars with lids allow the customer to see the items within, creates colorful displays and gives the feel of a vintage candy shop. Baskets for floral or gardening ornaments, beach buckets for summer vacation ornaments, open suitcases for travel-themed ornaments, and a guitar case for music-themed ornaments are all interesting ways to display Christmas ornaments year round without needing a Christmas tree. Your customers will see that ornaments are year-round decorations for every occasion.
There are so many creative and exciting ways to display Christmas ornaments without a Christmas tree. Your shop can feature all the wonderful ways Old World Christmas keeps the Christmas spirit alive from spring to fall. Displaying ornaments in a creative way with eye-catching containers at different heights will transform your shop into a destination spot all year long.
]]>It should be no surprise that our Covid ornaments were by far our top sellers. The masked-up, twinkling-eyed Santa flew out of our warehouse like it was on Santa’s sleigh. The dated toilet paper barely stayed on the roll and was gone before we knew it, and the hand sanitizer glittered it’s way into shops around the country faster than it can evaporate. It was a very strong year for the Covid ornaments. The timing of the release played into our favor, and we sincerely hope you were able to secure the quantities you were looking for. They were often imitated, but never replicated very well, and we were proud of the production of these ornaments this year.
A trend we thought was interesting was the baby trend. There were two versions of “baby’s first Christmas” ornaments: one was the heart with sparkling, dated banner and the other was the smiling teddy bear with festive stocking cap. Both are sweet keepsakes commemorating baby’s first year. From there the baby theme expands to three baby animals: the baby elephant, baby unicorn and the baby bunny ornaments. All three are exceptionally adorable, and would be a sweet addition to any sparkling Christmas tree. The songbird set, which tends to be on our most popular list each year, aren’t baby birds, but they are small and cute, so they tie in perfectly with the baby theme.
You’d think that during a weird year with unknowns and anxiety that cocktails and other adult beverages would be top sellers, however, we found a few delicious foods at the top of our list. The avocado was well-represented on our top-seller list in both the avocado ornament and with the avocado toast (complete with lightly sprinkled sesame seeds). Following the avocados were the bacon and eggs ornament. You’d have a filling and complete breakfast pairing the bacon and eggs with the avocado toast—even if they’re just on the tree.
A couple more top sellers that couldn’t be grouped into those categories were the crystal icicles (always a popular seller, and look amazing on the tree!), the Army Cap, and the artist’s palate. The Army Cap and artist’s palate were not on our top-sellers list last year, and we love celebrating a newcomer to the most-loved ornaments of 2020. We love reflecting on the most-popular sellers each year, and we hope that your shop has a few of these options! If not, never fear, chances are good that many of these will continue to sell well into 2021.
]]>Arranging ornaments by color is a beautiful way to display. The rainbow makes sense to the brain, yet would be exciting to examine each offering in each color. Maybe you have a wall or multiple baskets to display ornaments, why not display them by color? For instance a pair of glamorous red heels, a large red cardinal, a Santa hat and a Chinese lantern would look great displayed together, yet with the variation, would be an interesting display. The contents of the red basket could be next to the orange basket (complete with some pumpkin pie and a traffic cone!) and so on down the rainbow. If your shop doesn’t have enough inventory to arrange the entire rainbow, then keep in mind that complementing colors also look attractive to the customer. An analogous color is the next-door neighbor to another color on the color wheel. Red and orange or blue and green are two sets of analogous colors. Displaying analogous colors together would look pleasing to the eye.
Arranging Christmas ornaments by theme is another logical way to display your in-stock ornaments. Arranging by theme allows customers who know what they want to discover them easily. Your customer might be looking for sports and can find her husband’s favorite NFL or college team, a lacrosse ornament for her son, a tennis ball for racquet or her niece, and a baseball or mitt for her nephew. Animals are another fan favorite, and Old World Christmas is overflowing with all the cutest animal ornaments. On our website we have the animals arranged by category, so you could do the same in your shop. The birds, cats and dogs are our most popular ornaments, but who could resist the most adorable Christmas pig in the farm animal category? Food and drink is another popular category that would make customers happy to navigate through. Don’t miss our Hostess cakes (both the cupcake and Twinkie!), the avocado, or the bowl of ramen.
A more year-round display would cater to better year-round Christmas-ornament sales helping customers understand the versatility of Old World Christmas’ offerings. Arranging ornaments by season would group them logically and creatively. In the spring section you could offer the watering can, any number of our flowers: the red rose, magnolia or clematis as well as the whiskey barrel with flowers. Summer is jam-packed with ice ice pops, beach Santa and snowman (fan faves!) along with sunscreen and sun tea. Fall is a crisp and wonderful season, a relief from the summer heat and a time to celebrate the beauty of nature’s changing colors. There’s also fall football which is a season all it’s own. Bright maple leaves, adorable woodland animals and Halloween ornaments are some of our fall standards. Not to mention our entire NFL and collegiate collections. And then there’s winter. It’s our bread and butter, but if you’re arranging by season, this section might be the biggest. Christmas is well represented with Santa, gingerbread houses, and nativity ornaments.
However you arrange your Christmas ornaments this season, we hope you put thought and care into the effort. We’re confident that with all of our amazing retailers creativity and ingenuity will shine. Send us photos of your best displays, we’d love to see them!
]]>Spending the time now—before it’s too busy, your store hours are extended, and you have to focus on stock and re-stock—to set your fixtures will save you time all the way through the end of December. Think of your display fixtures like a capsule wardrobe. It’s all the basics—the structure—that determine the flow, the interest and curious discovery you want to create and enhance for your customers. Do customers get stuck in one area of your shop? Is there a natural flow that is comfortable for customers fall into, or is there a section that frequently gets missed? Your fall display starts from the ground up. Consider trading out a boring, run-of-the-mill table for an old antique-looking kitchen table. Consider layering a small table on top of a table. Pay attention to the flow. Which way will customers walk? To what do you want to draw their attention?
When your fall display foundation is laid and set, determine the organization of your shop. Make it make sense. Take your customers on a journey through your store, starting with the eye-catching, seasonally relevant items accessible and desirable to them. Zones make sense to customers; a fall display moving to Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas can rotate as the season progresses. This is hard work to keep current, but the effort is worth while because it keeps the first eye-catching display relevant and exciting.
When the shop’s flow and seasonal zones are set, the creativity can let loose. Layers of merchandise keep customers engaged. Think of layers at different heights. Evaluate if anything can hang from the ceiling. White-washed or natural branches create a great setting for ornaments to hang from, birds and nests to be tucked into and lights to be strung. This easily transfers from season to season from a fall display to a Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas display. There should be items at all levels for customers’ eye to take in. Don’t neglect the space down low. Textured baskets, bins and crates can hold soft things, big things, unusually sized items. Think about visual texture in your display. It creates interest and a tactile feel, keeping the customer engaged. In order for your store not to feel overwhelming or crammed with merchandise consider organizing it not only by season, but also by color or theme. You can have a lot of merchandise, but it not feel overwhelming to your customer by keeping it visually interesting and logically organized.
Leaves for fall, pumpkins for Halloween, turkeys for Thanksgiving and ornaments for Christmas. Same old, every year. Maybe all new displays for the whole season isn’t in the budget this year, but rethinking the expected with a reinvented unexpected doesn’t have to be pricey or cliché. Do some window shopping to see how other brick and mortar shops display for the fall. Anthropologie uses a lot of up cycled and every-day items in their fall window displays. Magnolia, in Waco Texas, has an entire display team that transforms their shop each season, and much of their materials are up cycled and put together in beautiful and unique ways. Bring the natural into your shop and ditch some of the brightly colored, faux leaves and mix in more neutral, natural colors and textures so your fall display doesn’t clash with the goods you are trying to sell.
There is inspiration everywhere, and fall is the perfect season to be inspired and to incorporate the natural beauty of the outdoors into your shop.
]]>Our three COVID ornaments are our current best sellers. Jolly Santa still sparkles behind his mask—he’s doing his part! His fluffy white beard and twinkling eyes still convey Christmas spirit. 2020 Santa, sans mask, but a sweet smile is also on our list of trending ornaments. If you or your customers were hard pressed to find a store with toilet paper earlier this year, our quilted T.P. ornament, decorated with 2020, solidifies the memory of the great toilet paper run of 2020. And, everyone’s new go to—hand sanitizer—helps everyone remember hand washing. Wash often! Our scrubs ornament is on our best-seller list in 2020—we’re so thankful for our front-line workers. There are humor, relevance and memories in these five ornaments, and they will sell themselves this holiday season.
The pickle and mini gurken ornament are always on our favorite’s list. Not only do pregnant women find solidarity with pickles, but traditionally a pickle is hidden on the tree and the finder of the pickle might be lucky enough to get a prize. We’ve seen a couple of our shops display and sell these pickles out of a glass jar. We love it!
Birds are usually on our top favorites list and trending now are the assorted mini songbird ornaments, the northern cardinal ornament, the bright blue jay ornament and the hummingbird ornament. The monarch butterfly is also another beautiful fluttering flyer and also a top trending ornament. The birds and butterflies look so lovely nestled on beautiful Christmas trees.
The black lab is our single dog on our top trending ornaments. He’s a good boy sitting proud and tall, hoping for something to chase. Our dog ornaments are special. They remind families of current pets or loved pets from the past. The slow-moving sloth is another animal on our list, and its gentle smile and relaxed demeanor make it a popular choice.
The two food items on our best-seller list is the avocado ornament and the set of mini conversation hearts. Avocados are a delicious and versatile food—perfect to eat right out of the skin, to make into hipster avocado toast or a fresh guacamole—the ornament represents all of it. The cute conversation hearts are adorable and sweet—an easy ornament to add at the point of sale. They don’t have to be relegated to Valentine’s Day, though it’s an easy ornament to sell through Christmas and into February.
Christmas is coming fast, and stocking your shop with some of this season’s trending ornaments ensures quick sales and inventory that moves. You might have a long list of ornaments you want to merchandise this holiday season, but consider the ornaments on this list as possibilities.
]]>First, let’s discuss the ribbon itself. There are a million choices of ribbon, but if you have too many choices for your customers to choose from, your final look can look haphazard. Think of establishing a “signature look” with one selection of paper (or a signature box if you don’t do paper) and one signature ribbon. A nice wide grosgrain or a silky smooth satin ribbon can make even the smallest gifts look grand. Order large spools of ribbon from a wholesaler, and pick a ribbon that is a basic color so it will always be in stock. A creative color or pattern might get discontinued, and part of your signature look comes over time with consistency. If your look changes from season to season you won’t establish yourself in your customer’s mind. Don’t skimp on ribbon. A stiff paper-like ribbon or thin plastic-like curly ribbon can look cheap. Keep in mind that this gift, wrapped beautifully and thoughtfully, represents your shop. A beautifully wrapped gift creates curiosity towards the store it came from. Your signature look comes from the ribbon and bow, and a seemingly small detail really does go a long way.
Now to the actual tying. There’s nothing worse than tying a bow and not having enough ribbon or tying a tiny, lopsided bow. The rule of thumb is to wrap the ribbon around the box 5 or 6 times to measure out enough for the ribbon around the box and the bow itself.
Then find the middle of the ribbon by folding the length of the cut ribbon in half, and placing that half-way point at the center of the box, and keeping that point at the center until the bow tying is complete.
With the center point in place, wrap the ribbon toward the bottom of the package and when the ribbon meets, twist the ribbon, making the ends now go perpendicular to the original ribbon wrap.
Then, bring the loose ends back up to the top of the gift and tie a knot with the two loose ends under the original vertical strip of ribbon. Then complete the knot on top of the vertical strip of ribbon.
Now for the bow. There’s nothing fancy to the tying. Tie the bow as you would tie a shoelace. When the bow is complete, pull it taut, fluff out the loops and make the loose ends even. To complete the look, fold one loose end in half and snip the end at an angle to create a snappy, divot.
A signature look takes thought and time to establish, but it’s a worthwhile investment because it’s a form of advertising for your shop. With a look that wows, your current customers are giving gifts to future customers. A well-wrapped gift, no matter how humble the gift itself is, reveals a shop with an eye for quality and beauty. Not only within its walls, but at every wedding, baby shower and birthday party.
]]>As a retailer you may feel the July 4th to Halloween lull and we think that celebrating Christmas in July as a marketing event keeps the Christmas season alive in a season that is full of sunscreen, sand and pool floaties. We’ve come up with a few ideas to help pull off a Christmas in July event.
Christmas in July can be an event that is anticipated by and participated in by all your customers. A new tradition to look forward to and have fun with will catch on quick. A little but of effort can make a big boost in summer sales.
]]>During the Mid-Year event we release approximately 30 new items, available to ship usually around the middle of September of the same year. Though it’s very hush-hush until the event, we know that included in those 30 this year will be some timely COVID-related pieces to commemorate the life-altering events of 2020. We think the Santa with a mask, the hand sanitizer and roll of toilet paper will be big sellers this season. The great reveal of the new items is one of our proudest moments each year. With all the work that went into designing and creating each ornament, we get excited to release them to our retailers.
We've added a "Mid-Year" tab in the new section of the website, and we'll be sure to send out e-blast announcements to keep you in the loop. So join in the Mid-Year fun. Not only does it ensure fresh inventory for your shop, but with a discount, you can’t go wrong. And, you will be organized and ready to go when the Christmas music starts to play around Halloween because your order will get priority shipping in mid-September. Whether you sell Christmas year round or are a purist and wait to unveil Christmas until after Thanksgiving, having new ornaments in a timely manner will give you a head-start on the Christmas season.
]]>Christmas season for us is year-round, so it spills into and overlaps with football season. Old World Christmas is proud to produce the best NFL-licensed ornaments in the country. These ornaments are crowd pleasers. Each one is made with our signature glass-blown techniques, and highlighted with shiny and matte paint with a hint of sparkle. We carry all 32 teams, each with the team’s logo, and have a beanie, a helmet, a hoodie, a stocking, a football and a foam finger of each team. They make great gifts, and each design is so attractive that it’s hard not to purchase the complete line of a specific team.
Though technically our NFL line is Christmas-tree ornaments, the marketing and exposure for them should come in the middle of the summer and run all the way through Christmas. It has a long selling season, and an extremely wide fan base across the country. Training camps for each team start in July and pre-season games start in August. The regular season begins at the beginning of September, playoffs start in January and the Super Bowl is in early February. Of course, the 2020/2021 season could be adjusted due to COVID-19, but the interest, the season’s rhythm and the popularity of the NFL hasn’t swayed. Whether fans can attend training camps and games in person or not this season, fans will continue to support their teams and will spend money to show their team spirit.
The NFL ornaments are affordable, both to our shops and to the customer. They have a great margin for our wholesale buyers, and only have to be purchased in quantities of 6. They come prepackaged so they’re easy to ship and easy to gift. The customer will have a hard time picking just one.
We have two permanent showrooms, one in Atlanta and one in Las Vegas. We love showing off our entire line in both showrooms, and encourage all of our vendors to attend market (when it’s safe and allowable) at least once a year to experience our full line. Seeing the entire wall covered in our NFL ornaments not only makes for a great display, but shows the huge popularity, brevity and scope of Old World Christmas’ NFL ornament line. Help them relive their greatest sports-team moments, celebrating the thrilling victories and agonizing over the soul-crushing defeats with a special ornament this football season.
The Ginger Cottages line has a vast collection of over 100 ornaments and cottages to display independently. They range from delightful workshops and themed cottages, to Santa’s train and detailed train cars, to a quiet nativity scene, and festive clock towers and lighthouses, the scope of the Ginger Cottages brand appeals to everyone. It’s not just the outside enchantment, but the tiny hidden details Glenn includes for the patient and persistent. Hidden candy canes, gingerbread men, trees and nutcracker shapes reveal themselves to those who look carefully.
The K-9 Cottages collection features man’s best friend with over forty of the most popular and well-loved breeds. The friendly dog greets in front of its dog cottage complete with glittering snow, a red fire hydrant and well-themed surprise inside.
Ginger Boo! veers slightly from Christmas to another major holiday to offer the same high quality with a different theme to create the same magic in our Halloween cottages. The bats, jack-o-lanterns, and black cats give a spooky and mysterious ambience to each Ginger Boo! cottage. There’s a graveyard, a haunted house, creepy barn and others, but they all scream “proceed at your own risk!”. The Ginger Boo! line is all display pieces and combine to make a large, scary village.
Ginger Cottages and Coca-Cola® combine to make the perfect pairing of nostalgia, Christmas and Santa’s favorite drink. The Coca-Cola® collection has over twenty designs each one with a nod to wistful sentimentality of a simpler time. This line is a mix of display pieces and ornaments. Most of the collection is Christmas or winter-themed, but the drive-in movie, soda shop and thumbs-up sign are year-round decorations with a vintage theme. If Santa drinking a Coca-Cola® isn’t iconic enough, this Ginger Cottages line also has the Coke-drinking polar bear family.
For your shop, Ginger Cottages as a variety of displays. Some of the displays are sold for consumers. They are small themed platforms with an included tea light. Your customer can choose from a variety of choices, matching the platform theme to their cottage collection. Two of the Christmas-themed platforms have double the space to feature two Ginger Cottages. The Halloween platform pairs perfectly for any of the Ginger Boo cottages. Your customers can add the finishing touch to their Ginger Cottages display with a set or two of the green, wooden trees which come in a set of three.

In conversations with customers we have been told that we are one of the few vendors that does provide pre-priced hangtags. Based on these conversations we assumed that all retailers would have a process in place to price product they received in their stores. And while we may be correct that this isn’t a problem for you, we have received a few calls from some customers that say they were caught off guard when they received their order.
This is a short-term issue and only involves product we previously had in inventory from 2019. All other product we receive for 2020 will have the new 2020 prices on them and we are receiving new product every day.
If this has caused you a problem and you don’t have a method for pricing these units, please email a list of the items and quantities you need to “thesource@oldworldchristmas.com”, and we will send replacement hangtags to you within two weeks.
For immediate access to retail prices on all orders simply login into your account at www.oldworldchristmas.com. After login you can select the most recent shipment in your account and select create worksheet. This will create an excel spreadsheet that includes an item name, item number, wholesale price, retail price, and UPC.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and sincerely hope this does not shake your confidence in us. We are off to another very strong start this year and look forward to continuing to earn your trust and your business.
Good luck this season!
